Dr. Graham Brant-Zawadzki headshot

Unified Fire Authority and Utah’s FEMA Urban Search & Rescue Task Force 1 Graham Brant-Zawadzki, MD, FAEMS

Dr. Brant-Zawadzki is a dual board-certified emergency physician in
Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). He serves as
an associate professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Utah
School of Medicine where he completed his fellowship in wilderness medicine
& EMS. He also serves as the Chief Medical Officer & Medical Director for
Unified Fire Authority and Utah’s USAR Task Force 1. His expertise bridges
academic leadership and operational field medicine, with a focus on
prehospital care, disaster response, and austere medicine.

Dr. Michael DePasquale headshot

Montgomery County Hospital District Michael DePasquale, MD

Dr. DePasquale was born and raised in New York City before completing his bachelor’s degree in Video Game Design & Development from the Rochester Institute of Technology. During his time at RIT he also obtained his New York State Paramedic certification and worked as a full-time Paramedic for several years before receiving his MD from The State University of New York Upstate Medical University in 2020. Dr. DePasquale then completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at Indiana University in 2023, before completing fellowship training in EMS at IU in 2024. His interests are in innovative integration of technology within EMS and utilization of pre-hospital ultrasound.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Puneet Gupta, MD, FACEP

Dr. Gupta is an Assistant Medical Director for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Assistant Clinical Professor (voluntary) at Harbor UCLA, and a practicing emergency physician for IEMG, an independent democratic group. Dr. Gupta is board certified in Emergency Medicine and EMS.

Sanilac County EMS and Medical Control Authority Mark Hamed, MD MBA, MPH, FAAFP, FAEMS

Dr. Mustafa Mark Hamed is Medical Director of the departments of Emergency and Hospital Medicine at McKenzie Health System in Sandusky, Michigan. He serves as Associate Medical Director of Sanilac County EMS and Medical Control Authority and Medical Director for eight rural Michigan counties’ health departments. Dr. Hamed is an attending staff physician with Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, and an associate clinical professor for the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Central Michigan University College of Medicine. He serves on the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma—Rural Advisory Council. His passion for improving rural healthcare led to him being awarded the 2019 Michigan Rural Healthcare Professional of the Year.

Dr. Hamed is a past President and Chair of the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians and is currently on their Board of Directors. His focus is on promoting safe and high-quality care in the pre-hospital and emergency department arenas, as well as across the public health spectrum.

Global Medical Response Jacob Kepperman, MD

Dr. Jacob Keeperman is a physician, leader, speaker, educator, and champion for creating a better healthcare ecosystem to serve all people. As a triple board-certified physician in emergency medicine, emergency medical services, and critical care medicine, he sees patients at their most vulnerable. He uses his experience as a survivor of critical illness to inform the care systems of the future. Dr. Kepperman is focusing his time on transforming healthcare to be delivered in a decentralized fashion, breaking away from the dependence on brick-and-mortar care.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Delaware County EMS, and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician Research Ashish R. Panchal, MD, PHD, FAEMS

Dr. Ashish R. Panchal is a professor of emergency medicine for the Department of Emergency Medicine. He is passionate about improving patient outcomes in the prehospital setting and conducts research focused on prehospital airway management and improving outcomes from cardiac arrest. He began his career as a researcher, completing a PhD in cardiovascular physiology at Case Western Reserve University. Following this, at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, he completed his medical training and residency. Dr. Panchal is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services.

Currently, Dr. Panchal is heavily involved in prehospital care, being the EMS medical director for Delaware County EMS and the Delaware County Emergency Communications. At The Ohio State University, he is the program director for the ACGME-accredited EMS fellowship. On a national level, he is the research and fellowship director for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and is part of the expert panels for the National EMS Scope of Practice Model Revision Project and the Evidence-Based Guideline for Naloxone and Pain management.

Dr. Panchal is also a member and chair of the American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care Science Subcommittee and was the chair of the 2018, 2019, and 2020 AHA/ECC Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.

chris souders

Houston Fire Department Chris Souders, MD, FAEMS

Chris Souders is a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine and completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Rochester, NY. His EMS fellowship was completed with Baylor College of Medicine and the Houston Fire Department. After fellowship, he was chosen as the Associate Medical Director for the Houston Fire Department which he has held since 2003.

Board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services, Dr. Souders’s primary responsibilities at HFD include dispatch protocol, quality improvement activities, and ePCR development and data analysis.

Dr. Ben Weston headshot

Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management Ben Weston, MD, MPH, FAEMS

Dr. Weston is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He serves as Chief Health Policy Advisor for Milwaukee County working to enhance the health of one million citizens. In addition, Dr. Weston is the Chief Medical Director for the Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management, directing medical services for 15 fire departments with 120,000 annual patient encounters.

Through strategic planning, effective communication and crisis management, Dr. Weston’s local, regional and national work has centered on community and partner engagement to advance population health. He was recently among seven selected fellows to the National Academy of Medicine. He has been featured on MSNBC, CNN, BBC, and in The New York Times and provided medical oversight for the NFL, NBA, MLB, Indycar, and USA Triathlon. He practices clinically in the emergency department at Froedtert Hospital, a level 1 trauma center and is an NIH funded researcher with interests in prehospital care, resuscitation, health equity, and public health surveillance.
