Literature: Health Information Hub for EMS

Webpage titled 'Health Information Hubâ„¢ for EMS' with descriptive text about its features and benefits for emergency medical services.

Truly Connected Health Information

Health Information Hubâ„¢ facilitates the automatic, bidirectional exchange of data connecting EMS with hospital EMRs/EHRs, HIEs, outcome data, billing, and registry information in near real-time.

Share Data with the Hospital

Health Information Hub (HIHâ„¢) allows ePCRs to be sent directly to the hospital, and when used with Hospital Hubâ„¢, can even alert the hospital of incoming patients. These solutions save valuable time at hand-off, provide seamless communication, and allow the hospital to be prepared in advance, a vital tool for critical patients.

Additionally, HIH provides a streamlined method of delivering patient data back to EMS, including outcome data. Beyond reconciling data for accurate billing, providers can choose to receive a notification in the ImageTrend Elite™ charting solution they’re using to be alerted to a patient’s outcome at discharge.

Connecting EMS to the Community

The exchange of information doesn’t stop with EMS agencies, hospitals, and HIEs. Interoperability expands to include the community through integrations with community paramedicine programs.

Highlights

  • Send ePCRs to the ED before patient arrival
  • Access outcome data for reporting and analysis
  • Access critical patient health information on-scene
  • Improve patient care in the community
  • Submit complete records for billing

Not only does HIH connect EMS agencies to hospitals, but it also enables EMS agencies to exchange data and transfer ePCR incidents with agencies using any NEMSIS Version 3.5 certified system, breaking down the software-specific barriers that previously prevented local and regional partners from sharing encounter data.

Carequality Treatment Query

Access to critical patient health information in the field leads to informed care on-site. The Carequality Treatment Query functionality within HIH provides EMS agencies access to Carequality’s network of more than 600,000 care providers, 50,000 clinics, and 2,800 hospitals nationwide, enhancing care, streamlining reporting, and improving patient hand-off at the hospital. EMS personnel can access patients’ medical conditions, allergies, and current medications prior to arriving at the receiving hospital.

Flexible Exchange Methods

ImageTrend partners with leaders in interoperability to share data via a multitude of exchange methods. These include query lookup and automatic data exchange through direct messaging, web services, VPN, and MLLP socket connections, and more.

The Complete Picture

Connected data opens the door to new possibilities in integrated healthcare. With ImageTrend’s Open Platform, encounters can be sent to hospitals or shared through Health Information Hub (HIH) with other agencies, regardless of which ePCR vendor they use*. ImageTrend’s solutions leverage powerful software to analyze, document, alert, and report on data – making patient-centric care a reality.

*Requires each endpoint to be certified NEMSIS version 3.5 compliant. Special data sharing agreements required – see ImageTrend rep for details.
